The Best Hot Chocolate - As Natural As Possible
When I was a kid, every morning started with a classic Swiss Ovomaltine. Today, I prefer more natural, free of animal products. But that doesn't mean I don't crave my childhood culinary memories from time to time. That's why I've been looking for alternatives that make my body feel better and that would allow me to enjoy hot chocolate every day if I wanted to.
Those who have never had natural cocoa powder may be a little disappointed. Unfortunately, it doesn't have much in common with the familiar sugar bombs we buy in the supermarket. On the other hand, it is characterised by a tart, chocolaty taste. Something like a row of very dark chocolate. If you find this too bitter, you can sweeten it with any sweetener you like.
Ingredients
For 2 cups
500ml cashew milk (or other plant-based alternative)
1 tablespoon natural cocoa powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
A little sweetener of your choice and preference
Preparation
- Put all ingredients in a pan, mix well and bring to the boil.
- Continue to simmer on a low heat for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Pour the hot chocolate into two cups and sweeten to taste or add more cinnamon.
